Inside Fort Wilderness


I particularly like the two visible trash cans (one looks like a tree stump) and wish I could read what that sign in the middle says...too bad this is closed seemingly permanently, now, after just rebuilding the exterior

Pioneer Cemetery, Tom Sawyer Island

When Fort Wilderness was re-built (but sadly not opened to guests), I was glad to see the old cemetery around back of the fort was once more accessible to visitors. Let's take a look and pay our respects to the fictional pioneers who settled the island long before the arrival of pirates, shall we?








Next time you're in the park and want a quiet respite briefly, head on over to the back of the island and enjoy the quiet final resting place of these early Disneyland departed.

Tom Sawyer Island Raft Maintenance



Along with a nice early period view of the Rivers of America, this one. Looks like the raft getting some attention before the park is open, but quite a lot of people checking it over...wonder what they are doing?
