Flying Saucers and the Matterhorn

Looks like some members of the Disneyland band got to put on their shiny suits and spaceman helmets to join in the fun of the new attraction, as well.

A return....

And, wow...neglected this blog for a long time. My apologies to all of you out there, if anyone even still checks this blog (unlikely). Time to spread the word again!

By way of apology, here are a few photos of a very obscure nature at the Disneyland Resort, photographed by me in March of this year. Guess along at home where they are, if you fancy!

Inside Fort Wilderness

I particularly like the two visible trash cans (one looks like a tree stump) and wish I could read what that sign in the middle says...too bad this is closed seemingly permanently, now, after just rebuilding the exterior

Star Tours 2.0 Sneak Peek! First Image From Inside The Re-Imagined Ride

In an exclusive quote from Disney Parks Blog, we learn more about the soon-to-be-reopened Star Tours 2.0:

Star Tours 2.0 Sneak Peek! First Image From Inside The Re-Imagined Ride
by Katherine P. Nym, Social Media Manager, Disneyland Resort

Guests returning this summer to journey through 'a galaxy far, far away' will be glad to see some familiar faces inside the Star Speeder 2000 vehicles. As previously announced, beloved droid C-3PO will end up being the pilot for many of our outgoing flights. However, it has been now exclusively revealed Star Wars fans will encounter more old friends besides the protocol droid. Every voyage has the
possibility ofbeing piloted by that fan-favorite Gungan,
Jar-Jar Binks. Of course, he will need some help piloting the Speeder successfully, so young Anakin Skywalker will play a role as well via communcation screen to assist in navigating through a galaxy of adventure and dangers. Come to Disneyland soon and visit these delightful Star Wars staples, or you could be in bombad big bantha poodoo!

New Fantasyland Construction - 1983

Slides my father took in mid-1983, of the big Fantasyland remodel. First up, the sign/wall blocking off access to the land from the front:

Followed by a trip on the Skyway to look at the work being done:

Pendleton Mills Photospread

Scanned from a old Vacationland issue. Hard to imagine the current store filled with only non-Disney clothes as opposed to pins and all the rest. Wish we had a clearer look at the bag the man is carrying: wonder if it is a Pendleton only logo one, or a Disneyland specific design

Castle and Crowds - 1960's

A nice vintage view. See if you can spot Snow White, all seven Dwarves, the kid about to fall in the moat, and Rutherford B. Hayes! (Just kidding about Hayes)

Tomorrowland's Clock of the World

Post-1959, but not sure of more precise dating for this image sadly. A lovely tour guide is pointing out to Disneyland visitors how the top ornament of the Clock of the World looks like a large colander cut in half. Budgets were tight in the early years, you know.

Candid Moment from Disneyland in the 50's

Daaaaaaad! Come on, I want to ride the mules again!

Interesting how far removed this simple scene is from the modern park just by small details. Notice the father is currently in process of putting his shoe back on, and the garden hose slightly carelessly looped under the bench and into the walkway...

Disney News - Spring 1989

Selected highlights of the issue, and some good material about the parks. Enjoy!

Disneyland INA Guide - Circa 1965

One of my favorite paper items in my collection, and doubtless handed out to visitors to the INA Carefree Corner on Main Street (current location of the Kodak store and photopass image print center)
